subway works of Bucharest (Romania) by 267 million euros


FCC has been awarded the contract for construction of a section Metro Bucarest (Romania) for an amount of 267 million euros, the company said.

The group controlled by Esther Koplowitz reinforces the presence it has in this country in Eastern Europe since 2004 and takes a further step in its internationalization strategy, which seeks to achieve outside the 67% of their income.

The project involves the construction of the first section of Line 5 subway of Bucharest, a path 6.1 kilometers long, including the execution of nine stations .

The work includes construction of two parallel tunnels 4.85 kilometers long and 5.7 meters in diameter, and a third 260 meters, which will connect the line 5 with 1 in Eroilor station. As for the stations will be underground and have a depth of between fifteen and twenty meters.

The project is funded by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Romanian state budget.

FCC has made this contract in consortium with the Italian and Romanian Astaldi AB ACM Construct and Delta. Bid up the project by two other groups of companies, one with Russian firms, Turkish and Italian, and other Austro-Romanian.

With this project, as well as advance its internationalization, the company also strengthened it already has experience in metropolitan rail infrastructure construction.

This contract is in addition to recently made to extend the Metro Toronto (Canada), building the first subway line in Panama, and run a section of Crossrail in London, an underground railway line will cross the capital.
